Our Recycling Research Sources

This page outlines the direct sources used based on our extensive research to establish the 'recovery rates' of each province or region of Canada and the 3-month 'cycle length'.

TLDR: Recovery rates range from 25-46% between provinces. Cycle lengths are about 60 days for cans, so we have extrapolated 90 days for plastic considering the system are similar and no exact metric is express from any source.

Recovery Rate Sources:

Saskatchewan 45.00% MMSW is managed by the same organization as RecycleBC. MMSW has an overall recovery rate of 66%, while RecycleBC's rate is 83%. Therefore we are extrapolating a 45% recovery rate for plastics in Saskatchewan since no detailed data is available. link

Cycle Length - 90 days.

From these sources we can reasonably extrapolated that the plastic recycling process takes about 90 days, although no source explicitly states the fact.
