Plastic coated razor blades.
The average person uses approximately 24 disposable razors or razor cartridges a year, which cannot be recycled.
By switching to a safety razor you are no longer contributing to the billions of plastic razors that end up in the landfill each year.
Stainless Steel
*For first time use - Unscrew razor head from razor handle, place blade between two pieces of razor head (teeth away from the handle), then screw razor head to razor handle.
- Prep your skin with warm water.
- Lather up with your life UNpacked shave bar.
- Hold razor at about 30 degrees and let the weight of the razor do the work as you pull in short, straight strokes. *Go with the grain, don’t apply too much pressure, and go slow.
- Rinse the blade, and of course yourself! *If you feel the need to press your razor into your skin, it’s time for a new blade.
Typical Life Span: 5-10 shaves (per blade)*
If your city specifies that they collect scrap metal with their curbside recycling, you can toss your razor blades in there. Be sure to put them in an aluminum can or other small container so no one is injured.
Most city recycling programs, however, collect scrap metal separately.
Collect your blades in a blade bank made from an aluminum can or other small container. Be sure it is clearly labelled and keep it away from children and pets.
When the can is close to full, tape the opening to seal it and drop it off at your local scrap metal collection site for recycling.
*Life span will vary based on thickness of hair, storage conditions, etc.

At first I was weary of the blades and having to attach them to the razor, but it was a simple and easy process, and I’m pleased with the results. These blades shave better with a single blade then the store bought does with three. No razor burn, and easy to use.
Happy you found the process easy; switching to no plastic is super simple! Thanks for your support!!
I loooove this razor!!! I bought the white one and it is fantastic. It works really well with a sharp blade. I have shared this with all my friends to get them on the plastic-free train! :)
Hey Brittany, Thank you for supporting our company and mission. We are happy we can help provide you with what you need to tackle the waste issues in the bathroom and your grooming routine.
When I first opened the Bamboo Razor, I was extremely intimidated, it definitely wasn’t your regular razor. I was quite worried that I would cut myself with it, so I put off using it for a bit. I looked up how to attach the blade on their website. I was so pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to shave with! I have super sensitive skin and get cuts very easily. You barely need any pressure, and it gives you such a close clean shave! I have very dark hair, and usually still can see black spots after shaving, and I did not have that issue using this razor! The razor handle is made of bamboo, with stainless steel. Absolutely recommend this razor as an alternative to the mainstream plastic razors!
Hi Kimberley - Thank you for taking the time to express your review of our product Kimberley. We really appreciate you taking the time for future customers of these products! :)
These blades are great - they cut the hair easily and kept my legs smoother for longer! Just make sure to use at an angle and go slow around the ankles. Worked wonders under my armpits :)
Sarah - that is wonderful to hear that you love the blades! Thank you for sharing such great advice to future users of the razor :)
These blades are sharp! I was super surprised when I got them and started using them (once I put the handle together properly). At first I put the razor together and It wasn’t working... but I realized I put the top head together wrong. Needs to be “teeth” facing away from the handle. After I put it together properly the razor worked like a charm. It truly is the closest shave I’ve ever had. I’ve used the same blade for 9 full shaves now and I think I’ll be able to get a few more out of the blade before I need to switch!
Hi Carl, We love the blades too! Most people find they last about 1.5-2x longer than a plastic razor cartridge. Thanks for doing your part for our planet :)
